Aspiring Sporting Heroes help others play sport

The good sports at St Thomas’ Primary School in Claremont had a blast on Friday November 1 when they dressed up as their favourite sporting heroes.

From tennis legends to footy stars, the students brought their A game to support the WA charity Fair Game.

Students also brought in pre-loved balls, bats and footy boots to donate to the charity which distributes the equipment to kids across WA.

Physical education teacher, Sharon Seaman said it was the school’s fourth year holding a free dress day for Fair Game.

“One of our school values is community and this is a great way to teach the students about how they can give back to communities,” she said.

“By donating their outgrown and unwanted sports equipment they allow other kids the same opportunities they have to play the sports they love.”

Caroline Arundell from Fair Game said the charity was about to celebrate major milestone distributing 100,000 items of pre-loved sports equipment since 2011.

”This equipment has increased access to sport for tens of thousands of children across WA from the Kimberley to the Great Southern,” she said.
