VOLUNTEER
Shannon’s Story
I joined Fair Game when I was living and working as a teacher in South Hedland volunteering at the Hub’s weekly afterschool program.
Covid had just started and I was seeing a massive disconnect between the kids I was teaching and school. I saw Fair Game as a way to connect with the students I taught in a fun and engaging way, whilst still promoting messages I was passionate about. I also saw it as an opportunity to visit remote communities and promote health and fitness messages to kids wider than my teaching could reach. I now work as a teacher in Kununurra and am a Project Officer for Fair Game’s weekly afterschool Game On! program. I’ve also been on a couple of Fair Game week long trips to communities in the Kimberley.
