Launching a Reflect RAP, we commit to strengthening relationships with the communities we serve and embedding reconciliation into our everyday work.
Last week, we were delighted to formally launch Fair Game’s Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) at our new home in West Perth.
We were privileged to be joined by Samuel Yombich Pilot-Kickett (joined by Glenda Kickett) who delivered a yidaki performance, Welcome to Country and a Smoking Ceremony to help us cleanse our new space.
We are extremely grateful for the support shown by all those who attended our launch event this morning including special guests the Hon Yaz Mubarakai, representing Minister Stephen Dawson and the Hon Klasey Hirst MLC, representing Deputy Premier Rita Saffioti MLA.
We were thrilled to have so many wonderful supporters join us for this important event, many who have been part of Fair Game’s journey for so many years – thank you all.
And of course, a huge thank you to CTI, who have supported us for so many years, including in our new home in West Perth – thank you believing in us and supporting our mission.
Why is a RAP such an important step for Fair Game?
Fair Game was founded on the belief that every Australian deserves the opportunity to live a healthy and active life. From our early days collecting pre-loved sports equipment in Boorloo (Perth) to our work today delivering programs across regional and remote Western Australia, our purpose has always been to create connection - to people, to place and to opportunity.
As our organisation has grown, so too has our understanding of the importance of reconciliation in shaping a fairer and more inclusive future. True connection requires listening, learning, and respect. It means acknowledging the truth of our shared history and celebrating the enduring strength, culture, and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Our Reflect RAP represents an important step in our reconciliation journey. It provides us with the opportunity to reflect on where we are, identify where we can improve, and lay the foundations for meaningful action. Through this plan, we commit to strengthening relationships with the communities we serve, continually building cultural awareness and safety across our organisation, and embedding reconciliation into our everyday work.
As Fair Game continues to grow, we recognise our responsibility to ensure that reconciliation is central to our vision. This RAP will guide us to be more intentional in our partnerships, more inclusive in our practices, and more accountable in our impact.
Reconciliation is a shared journey, one that belongs to all of us. I am proud that Fair Game is taking this step together, guided by our values of culture, inclusivity, empowerment, collaboration, and leadership. Together, we will continue to walk alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to create a more equitable, healthier, and sustainable Australia for everyone.
