Equip for Sport program wins Waste Authority’s 2026 Community Waste Award!

Fair Game are honoured to have won the Community Waste Award for our Equip for Sport program at the recent WA Waste Authority's 2026 Waste Sorted Awards.

The Award recognises our Equip for Sport program's impact as an initiative driving community engagement in waste management:

- firstly, through donations of pre-loved sports equipment to the program which come through our network of donation bins or from organised collections - in 2025, 58 schools, sports clubs and corporates involved their communities in a donation drive collecting equipment;

- secondly, through the volunteers who assist in the collection, sorting and cleaning of items.

Since 2011, 140,000+ items of sports equipment for 33 different sports have been distributed to communities right across Western Australia, helping thousands of people access sport each year, which in itself, is strengthening communities.

Every attempt is made to find alternative uses for Items that aren’t suitable for the program, meaning less than 3% of items received end up in landfill . According to the WA Re Use Impact Study, Fair Game’s Equip for Sport program accounted for nearly 5% of the total annual re-use market in WA.

With the help of the community the Equip for Sport program is creating positive social and environmental impacts right across WA.

If you would like to organise a sports equipment donation drive at your place of work, school or sports club please contact us. 🏉 👟 🏏 🏀

Congratulations to all the other finalists!
